"Peaceful Rising": Observing China’s Influence in the Developing World, which used to be called China in Africa: A New Colonial Power?” has a new home looks like it is now being regularly updated.  It’s a filter blog mainly for China in Africa articles, but looks now to be focused on China’s impacts on the developing world in general, so a great resource for all of us interested in China-Africa issues.

African Women Reblog – Sokari Ekine, who blogs at Black Looks and is the former Africa editor for Global Voices, has started an excellent project that aggregates blogs written by African women.  The project aims to amplify the voices of women across the continent writing on everything from politics to cooking to God.

I wrote my first post on the DRC for Global Voices, and I must say some of the most prolific bloggers I’ve ever encountered call the Congo home.  Anthony Katombe thinks there are two reasons for this: first, "he who aches the most screams the loudest" and second "The Congolese are more and more aware of their responsibility for the country’s plight."

You can read all about it here, but there are a lot of interesting things happening right now as the Democratic Republic of the Congo prepares for its first post-conflict presidential election.
